Businesses will be able to securely create huge language models using their own private data on the Snowflake Data Cloud thanks to the integration of NVIDIA NeMo.
At the Snowflake Summit 2023, Snowflake, the Data Cloud firm, and NVIDIA announced their partnership to offer businesses of all sizes an accelerated path to develop customised generative AI applications utilising their own private data, all safely within the Snowflake Data Cloud.
Snowflake will give businesses the ability to create custom LLMs for sophisticated generative AI applications, such as chatbots, search, and summarization, using the data in their Snowflake accounts thanks to NVIDIA NeMoTM, a platform for building large language models (LLMs), and NVIDIA GPU-accelerated computation. The Snowflake platform’s proprietary data can continue to be properly secured and managed because to the ability to customise LLMs without relocating data.
“Snowflake’s partnership with NVIDIA will bring high performance machine learning and artificial intelligence to our vast volumes of proprietary and structured enterprise data, a new frontier to bringing unprecedented insights, predictions and prescriptions to the global world of business.”
Frank Slootman, chairman and CEO, Snowflake
“Data is essential to creating generative AI applications that understand the complex operations and unique voice of every company”, “Together, NVIDIA and Snowflake will create an AI factory that helps enterprises turn their own valuable data into custom generative AI models to power groundbreaking new applications — right from the cloud platform that they use to run their businesses.”
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, NVIDIA
The partnership between NVIDIA and Snowflake offers new opportunities for businesses. It will allow them to develop and improve unique LLMs that drive industry-specific applications and services using their private data, which can consist of hundreds of terabytes to petabytes of raw and curated business information.
Customers can quickly and effectively design, deploy, and manage customised apps that bring the power of generative AI to all areas of their organisation across a number of use cases by integrating AI technology from Snowflake and NVIDIA. Additionally, these customers may now construct generative AI applications using the Data Cloud’s expanded AI capabilities, which drastically lowers cost and latency while ensuring the security of their data.
“More enterprises than we expected are training or at least fine-tuning their own AI models, as they increasingly appreciate the value of their own data assets”, “Similarly, enterprises are beginning to operate more diverse fleets of AI models for business-specific applications. Supporting them in this trend is one of the biggest open opportunities in the sector.”

Custom Models for Financial Services, Retail, and Other Sectors
The Snowflake Data Cloud, which has more than 8,000 customers globally (as of April 30, 2023), enables businesses to combine, integrate, analyse, and exchange data within their own organisations as well as with clients, partners, suppliers, and other third parties. Customers can also use the Data Cloud to construct and distribute cutting-edge data applications at scale.
Industry-specific Data Clouds are available on Snowflake’s unified platform to support the delivery of cutting-edge solutions across numerous verticals and lines of business, including advertising, media and entertainment, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, retail and CPG, technology, and telecom. Snowflake most recently introduced the Government and Education Data Cloud to allow the public sector to make decisions using data.
The partnership between Snowflake and NVIDIA will help customers further revolutionise these sectors by introducing tailored generative AI applications to various verticals through the Data Cloud. For instance, a healthcare insurance model could provide complex answers regarding the procedures that are covered by different policies. Based on a variety of factors, a financial services model could provide information about certain lending options offered to retail and business consumers.
With billions of parameters, NVIDIA NeMo is a cloud-native enterprise platform for creating, customising, and deploying generative AI models. NeMo will be hosted and operated by Snowflake on the Data Cloud, allowing users to create, personalise, and deploy unique LLMs for generative AI applications like chatbots and intelligent search.
Developers can make sure that their applications adhere to business-specific topics, safety, and security requirements by using the NeMo Guardrails programm.
